APPG for British Hindus – Statement on the Terrorist Attack in Pahalgam, India

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for British Hindus strongly condemns the recent brutal terrorist attack that occurred on 22 April 2025 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India, where Islamist extremist terrorists targeted and killed 28 innocent civilians, including Indian Hindu pilgrims, and foreign nationals. This barbaric act on Indian soil is a direct assault on peace, humanity, and the values of freedom, tolerance, and human dignity.

The attack, carried out by Pakistan-backed Islamist extremists affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), saw the deliberate targeting of non-Muslim civilians, with victims being forced to undergo religious identification before being mercilessly executed. Such atrocities are a grim reminder of the enduring threat posed by terrorism not only to the region but to global peace and security.

We offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and stand in unwavering solidarity with the victims and their loved ones during this time of immense sorrow. The deliberate targeting of civilians, particularly peaceful visitors and pilgrims, must be unequivocally condemned by the international community without hesitation or excuse.

We urge the UK Government to raise this matter urgently with its international partners, to condemn this atrocity in the strongest terms, and to support efforts to hold accountable those who perpetrate, sponsor, or harbour terrorist networks. We further call for enhanced cooperation between the United Kingdom and India to counter terrorism and defend democratic values globally.

The APPG for British Hindus remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting harmony, countering extremism in all its forms, and ensuring that the voices of British Hindus and all communities that stand against hatred and violence are heard in condemning such horrific acts wherever they occur.
